Who We Are

Now in its seventh year, the Harrisburg Book Festival is proudly hosted by the Midtown Scholar Bookstore. Featuring celebrity authors, award-winning poets, children’s illustrators, emerging novelists, acclaimed historians — surrounded by hundreds of thousands of books at one of the nation’s most celebrated independent bookstores — the Harrisburg Book Festival is the literary destination for book lovers across Pennsylvania.

Free 2-hour parking is available around the neighboring Broad Street Market. Limited free parking is available in the lot behind the bookstore. Metered street parking is available on 3rd and Verbeke Streets, 8am-7pm Monday-Saturday. Nearby unmetered streets have residential-only parking from 8am-10am and 3pm-5pm weekdays.

The Midtown Scholar Bookstore is located in Harrisburg's Midtown Arts District, across the street from the historic Broad Street Market and just a few blocks north of Pennsylvania's State Capitol Complex.

In our neighborhood, be sure to catch an indie film at the locally owned and operated Midtown Cinema. Experience creativity and meaning through the visual arts at one of Susquehanna Arts Museum’s extraordinary exhibitions. Meet resident artists, craftspeople, and graphic designers at the Millworks artists' studios — then, enjoy a farm-to-table meal and craft beverage at the Millworks Restaurant.
